On September 1, 2020, three universities of applied sciences – FHS St. Gallen, HSR Rapperswil, and NTB Buchs – will merge to become a single university of applied sciences; education and research will continue at all three locations. Following the strategy «One school – one brand», on September 1, 2020, the new university will operate under the name «Ost» combined with the descriptor «Eastern Switzerland University of Applied Sciences». The new name signals a new start and a common understanding of performance at the three locations. Ost firmly anchors the university across Eastern Switzerland and Liechtenstein 🤮 and expresses this concisely and self-confidently.
Ost is based on the collaboration of the Cantons of St. Gallen, Schwyz, Glarus, Appenzell Ausserrhoden, Appenzell Innerrhoden and Thurgau as well as the Principality of Liechtenstein 🤮.
As of January 1, 2020, the university bodies appointed on this date will become active. All of the well-established collaboration will continue under the new structure.
